Lush Book Page Wreath...

Here is my take on the book page wreath... I shared this on my blog awhile ago now... before I knew of Hometalk and just had to come and share it here too... this is one of the lushest book page wreaths I've see around... and if you need even more detailed steps be sure to visit the blog post at the link below!


Prepare your book pages... using an exacto knife and ruler start cutting to free the book pages of their bound confines!... yes... every librarians nightmare!...
You can get trashy romance novels from thrift stores to create some hot and steamy wreaths ;)
For this DIY you need a cutting blade, metal ruler, books, a wreath form, ribbon and a glue gun and lots of glue sticks... and time... I like to make these while having Netflix marathons!






Holding you hand like this lay a page across it and poke the page down from the centre in the hole you've created with your hand... There are additional photos on the blog post at the link below... this is a photo heavy tute... but I could only share 15 shots here :)






Twist the paper cone down with your fingers to bring it into shape...






...using your glue gun secure the edges of the cone to itself...






Now its time for the Netflix marathon... make a hamperful of paper cones!... ya a hamperful! Really it depends on the size of your wreath form... This is an excellent wreath for making your own wreath form out of a fat pool noodle!... the form ends up being completely covered so you cannot see the form what so ever!






Make a pile?! get to work! hehehe






I like to use the messy straw forms for this wreath if I can't get my hands on any pool noodles... they're a bit messy but they're inexpensive... for a hanger I tie a ribbon around the wreath form.






Some of your paper cones may be particularly pointy on the bottom... I give mine a little smash to flatten the tip out for gluing as I glue them on...






You can see my work surface is covered with brown paper... when I'm doing this much hot gluing or messy making I like to paper my surface to protect it... it also makes for super easy cleanup.






I have a method to these wreaths... I work around the outside...






Then I work all around the inside...






...then I work a line around the face sticking up... you can even create a line of cones between the outside and face and inside and face cones... this gives you a great setup to begin filling in... these bands of cones will help support the filler cones you are gluing in...






Work away at filling in the the wreath... again Netflix marathon






Now... most people forget the back... personally I think this is a faux pas... if its worth doing its worth doing well... paper cover the back to hold in all of those straw bits and so that the back of the wreath doesn't look messy!... there are more shots of this at the blog post below... I work my way around the back of the wreath tacking full pages into place over the form...






...and there you have it!... the lushest book page wreath in town!
