My cats have long been enemy #1 to my Christmas decorations. Tired of finding my tree turned over in the middle of the living room and glass everywhere I started wrapping my base up in a big "Christmas gift" to make it sturdier and hide that ugly base. Now I'm making it even sturdier with added weight inside and giving my tree some height so that it fills my room without having to spend a few hundred more on a taller tree! The base is placed in a large box.Books, bricks, cans or whatever you have that is heavy is placed on the bottom with the base on top for added height and weight that will help keep the box from tipping. Be sure your stuff is level so your tree isn't at a crazy angle!Be sure to cut a hole and run the cord for pre-lit trees through to the back of the box.Decorate the box to fit your decor! As soon as I get some gifts around it the base will almost disappear with them! Now my tree is sturdy, almost reaches the ceiling in my tall living room and doesn't have a tree skirt for the animals to run off with or an ugly base to visible. Yay!For more details, or if you have questions it's quite possible they have been addressed in the full post.
