I was trying to come up with something different to give my girls (I have 5) for Christmas and this is what I came up with. Instead of using salt for snow like usual, I used tapioca!I used quart sized ball jars. I outlined the girls initials on the front in gold acrylic paint. I put a little glue inside the initials and sprinkled some red sparkles. When dry, I covered the initials with tape.I used a small foam brush to add a thin layer of Mod Podge only a little half way up the jar. I then put tapioca on a paper plate and crunched it a little so some of it would be powder. I then rolled the jars in the plate. Let dry 30min.After the Mod Podge dried, I sprayed the bottom half of the jar with spray adhesive and let dry 20 min. When dry, I put another layer of Mod Podge on by gently rolling the sponge brush over the surface, let dry and spray another layer of spray adhesive.I carefully clean the clear, outside of the jar with alcohol to remove any spray adhesive and then gently rewashed the inside in case anything got in the jar. I then filled and layered the jar with my own hot chocolate mix and topped with marshmallows just barely past the curve in the jar.I set the jar on a piece of card stock paper and drew the outline of the bottom of the jar, cut it out and covered it with foil, turning down the edges.I drew a circle around the inside part of the lid on felt. Same exact size, then hot glued it to the top of the inside of the jar. Once dry, put the lid together.Fold your foil disc slightly and put inside the jar and press down gently until the disc looks level. Use a spot of glue from your glue gun and glue a tea light in the middle.Put the lid on and decorate however you like. (My glue gun is my best friend!) I cut small pieces off of some old garland I had and I already had the ribbon. Some one can remove the top and burn the tea light which will reflect off of the foil and then enjoy what ever you decide to fill your jar with.Original article and pictures take http://www.hometalk.com/11534284/yet-another-ball-jar-gift site
