Sweaters to Mittens

Here's how I turn sweaters into mittens... this is a great gift for the upcoming holidays!... Use a persons worn out favourite old sweater or pickup some great patterned sweaters second hand!...

Using my hand as a guide I treated out a mitten shape around my hand... leaving extra room for seam allowance...





Turn the sweater inside out and with two sides together, and the bottom lined up, place the pattern onto the sweater with the bottom of the sweater making the mittens cuff...





...trace the pattern onto the sweater and then cut through the two layers of sweater... do this twice so that you have two mittens cut out...





Take a mitten (two layers of sweater) and pin them together all the way around so that they're held into place while you're sewing...





If you have a machine then you're off to the races... if you don't you can hand stitch around the mittens...





Once they're sewn around remove all of the pins, trim any bulk or nip any curves and turn the mitten right side out...





Now test fit them mittens!... how are they? They're AWESOME!...





These mittens make for a great easy and quick mitten collection for yourself or for all of your girlfriends... teachers... secret santa gift...





The possibilities are only limited to the sweaters that you can find... and even then you can add embellishments to the mittens once they're sewn up!...
