Re-purposing A Vintage Screen Door

We got this old door from a friend who was remodeling a house. It sat in the garage for well over a year, as we really didn't know what to do with it.

After getting a new cat last spring, we had to start keeping the door to my craft room closed all the time, as Charlie would always go in there, knock my porcelain dolls off the table & knock ornaments off my Amish Charlie Brown tree & play with them. We hated having to keep the door closed, as it made the hall darker, couldn't get a cross breeze when the windows were open & you couldn't see into the room.

Then, I got the idea, just for kicks n giggles, I would measure the screen door & the door frame of my craft room. Perfect fit!

The craft room is painted lavender, so we decided on green for the door. Ron had to cut the old screen off, as he was afraid he would damage the small wooden wedges that held the screen in. He stapled the new screen on, then bought narrow trim to cover the edges, & painted them white. That side of the door goes on the inside of the room.

New handles, the same as what the old had been, but were in really bad shape. One inside & one outside.

The end result, looking in from the hallway.
