Christmas Scented Paper Sachets: Easy Inexpensive DIY Gifts To Make

I have to admit I love the smell of Christmas! I love breathing in the fragrance of allspice, cloves and cinnamon. I thought it would be fun to make DIY gifts that capture these fabulous scents.

I decided to make paper sachets because I had some Christmas themed scrapbook paper I wanted to use up. These are also very easy to make. Even children can enjoy making some to give as gifts to their teacher.

These little pouches are the perfect size to slip into a drawer, closet or cupboard during the Christmas season. What fun it is to open up these confined storage spaces and get a subtle Christmas spicy fragrance!





I started with a 12” x 12” piece of Christmas themed scrapbook paper and cut it in half.





Then I folded the sides in about 3/4”.





I applied craft glue along the folded edge and brought one end up to about 1-1/4” from the other end. The photograph shows you how the paper sachet looks when it is made into a cute little pouch.





The next step is to poke holes through the holes in a paper doily taped to the front of the paper sachet using double-sided tape. You can use a T-pin or a small skewer. Tape another paper doily to the back of the paper sachet to hide the unsightly holes.





Add your whole spices. I added about a tablespoon each of allspice and cloves and about 1/4 cup of scented cinnamon pieces I bought at Michaels. They are so fragrant!





To finish off the Christmas scented paper sachet fold over the top flap, punch two holes and secure it with a ribbon tied into a bow.
These are so easy and quite inexpensive to make that you can make several using different kinds of scrapbook paper and colours of ribbon. I kept some for myself and plan to give the rest away as lovely DIY gifts for Christmas!
