Have you ever gone to a church function or a pot luck and not come home with your dish before? Or maybe you've loaned your casserole dish to someone and then it becomes one of their own because they forgot who's it was? That has happened to me and it's not fun! So I decided to etch my last night on the bottom of the dish so no one can claim it's theirs.
The first thing you do cut out your name (or whatever you want it to say) in vinyl (or contact paper, like in the picture but vinyl works MUCH better). You take out the letters that the vinyl cut, leaving a stencil. Then you place the vinyl/contact paper onto the bottom of the dish.
Make sure to put the little pieces back into the name (like in the a and d and e).
Now for the etching part. You use a cream and put it on there, making sure to not get it outside of the vinyl/contact paper. Then you let it sit, then you rinse it off and clean the glass. Make sure to go see my post to get more details about how long to let it sit and what cream I used.
And that's it!! This is such a fun and easy thing to do. I did this dish 5 years ago and I still use it all the time and it still LOOKS GREAT!! I did learn that the cream does not work on older dishes (like from the 70s or older) but it works great on the newer dishes. I did this with a bunch of women at a church function, we did about 65 dishes and they turned out so great! This is also a great idea for a Christmas or wedding gift. Make sure to check out my post for step by step instructions.
