Created a Plank Wall to Replace Paneling in Lower Level...

Room originally had paneling from 1966. Getting the entire room drywalled was way out of our budget so went to Pinterest and found an alternative. We are loving it!

Here is the finished product

We started with tongue and groove pine 1 x 6 and used what is intended to be the back of the board because it was more along the look we were going for....

The staining was easy. Picked out 3 colors, 2 that were similar and one that was quite light. Using chip brushes I dipped the brush in water spread on board then dipped same brush in stain going over the wet wood. Instant rustic appeal...

Here's a board with the lightest shade of stain. I went back through and added depth with each of the darker colors...

The boards were then cut to fit using compound miter saw...

And the finished project. We're very happy with the way it turned out, tons better than the original idea of simply painting over the old paneling.
