2 Ingredient Laundry Scent Booster

I'm really cheap and one of my guiltier pleasures at the grocery store was occasionally picking up scent boosting crystals to make my laundry smell divine. But when I realized that the main thing inside of these pricey bottles of crystals was plain old salt I knew I could DIY up my own for far less.

Here's ingredient Fill an air tight jar about 3/4 full of epsom salts. You buy epsom salts in the health section and they make a wonderful soak for sore muscles, too!





And here's ingredient Essential oils are really popular right now making it easy to find fairly inexpensive essential and fragrance oils. This set of 6 floral scents is less than $20 at Amazon





Add 20-30 drops of essential oil to your salts and give a good stir. If you allow the jar to sit with the lid closed for a week or so the scent will become even stronger but you can begin using immediately.





There it is. 2 ingredients and a whole heck of a lot cheaper than the store bought stuff. You can use any scents you please for this and can even have multiple jars at once. I have a version that uses an insomnia blend I purchased at an art fair just to wash my sheets. It's lovely!

*** To answer a few common questions I use 1/4 cup for a normal load and up to a full cup for a load I've left in the washer and has mildewed. It is added at the beginning tossed right on top of the clothes. I don't have a front loading washing machine so I'm not sure if it will work but I wouldn't see why not. It has not damaged my machine and even has fairly recently been seen by a professional for an electrical problem. I think that's it :)
