Twinkling Yarn Ball Wreath

I needed a light weight wreath to hang on the mirror above my mantel. Because the mirror is already very heavy I did not want to add too much weight. These hollow yarn and jute balls were the perfect solution!

After blowing up around 20 small balloons, I wrapped Jute, sparkly ivory yarn, and golden string around them and soaked them in a mixture of 50/50 water and mod podge. Equal parts.

I hung the balloons to dry using clothes pins. Be sure to put something beneath to catch the drips. It makes a big mess!
I let my yarn balls dry overnight. While they were drying I took an old wire hanger and cut the hook off the top, then formed it into a circle wreath form.

Puncture the balloons through the yarn and they will shrink back down to a small size and be pulled out through the holes in the yarn balls. Thread the yarn balls onto the wire hanger until it is full.
I threaded wire led twinkle lights through the balls, and embellished the wreath with a few wood stars painted gold or silver! I really love the LED lights, and they even came with a remote control so I don't need to take the wreath down every time I want to turn it on.
I love how it looks hanging over my mantel!

The Jute balls came out the stiffest, and the gold string balls are not very tough so they squished some when I was forming the wreath. It didn't take away from the overall look, in my opinion.
